Sail Units
This SAIL (Science And Integrated Language) curriculum consists of four fifth-grade units designed to support yearlong learning. The SAIL garbage unit was awarded the NGSS Design Badge and was rated as an “Example of High Quality NGSS Design.”

This instructional unit integrates science, engineering, data science, and computer science to address societal challenges in middle school. Grounded in a conceptual framework for interdisciplinary STEM education with multilingual learners (MLs), the unit uses the COVID-19 pandemic as a case study to explore connections across STEM disciplines.
