SAIL professional Development

In addition to the sail curriculum materials, we offer a suite of professional development (PD) Materials.

• SAIL includes curriculum and PD.

  • The curriculum includes four 5th-grade units that address all Grade 5 NGSS Performance Expectations (see our curriculum page here).

  • The PD includes full-day teacher workshops for both new-to-SAIL teachers and returning-to-SAIL teachers.

    • New-to-SAIL teachers participate in eight full-day workshops over the course of a year, two workshops before implementation of each unit.

    • Returning-to-SAIL teachers participate in four full-day workshops over the course of a year, one workshop before implementation of each unit.

• All PD materials are free and available for download. When you download the PD materials, start with the SAIL PD facilitator guide. This guide describes our conceptual approach to PD, the organization of PD, helpful implementation tips, and answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). This guide also outlines everything needed to implement SAIL at your school, including budgets.
